New President Named at Utica College

News

After serving 18 years as it’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Todd Hutton is seeking to lift Utica College’s trajectory higher even after he steps down in August.

Dr. Todd Hutton, The current President of Utica College says,
“I’ve got to make a seamless perfect baton hand off, so that the next person can sprint full speed ahead.”

With Today’s announcement, Dr. Hutton and the Utica College Board of Trustees believe Laura Casamento is the answer. With her appointment Casamento becomes the ninth president, and first female Chief Executive in the College’s history. And since her arrival in 2004, her role in bringing in external funding to the college is one of the reasons why the board is confident in their decision.

Laura Casamento, The Current Executive Vice President and future CEO of the College adds,
“I’ve seen the good work that President Hutton has done, and have tried to help in any way that i can. And I wanted to make sure that the vision continued well into the future.

Casamento agrees that college affordability is a vital part to the student experience, and with the reduced tuition announcement earlier this fall, she believes the college’s enrollment will continue to grow.

“It extends utica college’s brand. It shows that we understand that there is a student loan crisis out there. And I think it positions us to open up the enrollment funnel, expand the brand nationally, and to make sure that students receive a high quality education for a high value.”

Casamento currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer.
She also serves on several local boards including Mohawk Valley Edge, and is a member of the strategy team for the MV-500 committee.
