New Hartford Police make arrests in vehicle theft investigation

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The New Hartford Police Department has reported two arrests being made in relation to a series of car thefts that have recently occurred.

After several weeks of investigation by New Hartford’s Criminal Investigation Division, it was learned that these crimes were being committed by two juvenile boys from the City of Utica. The suspects are 14 and 15-years-old and according to police, they are responsible for trespassing and stealing cars and other property located at the scene of the crimes.

Due to their ages, their names and pictures have not been released.

The first juvenile male suspect has been charged with the following:

  • Burglary in the Third Degree
  • Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

The second juvenile male suspect has been charged with the following:

  • Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree

Both suspects have been processed and released and are scheduled to appear before the Juvenile Court System at-a-later-date.

The New Hartford Police Department was assisted by members of the Utica Police Department and Oneida County Juvenile Probation.
