New Animals at the Utica Zoo

UTICA (WUTR)—- Sansa and Arya are two Miniature Donkeys that will be spending the summer at the Utica Zoo. They are on loan from a local farm.

Sansa and Arya stand less than 3 feet tall and both are pregnant.

“They are very interactive,” said Zoo Keeper Sarah Goodyear.

Zoo visitors are allowed to pet the donkey’s, but Goodyear said visitors should take caution.

“You always want to watch out for their teeth, because they can bite, but they do like pets,” explained Goodyear.” You just want to watch out for your little kid’s fingers, and always supervise.”

The Miniature Donkey’s are not the only new animals at the zoo.

“We have increased our Urials, thanks to the birth of 4 new kids,” said Goodyear.

Although the Urials look like goats, they are actually sheep. Porcupine babies were also born recently, allowing the zoo to grow one new addition at a time.
