National Dog Day Celebration Leads to Adoptions

It’s National Dog Day and Stevens-Swan Humane Society was the perfect place to celebrate.  Their goal–to empty the kennels.
If you’re in the market for a new dog–Wednesday was the day.

“It’s the 26th so all of our dogs are $26.”

For one-day only, all dogs at the Stevens-Swann Humane Society were $26 no matter the breed or size–completely ready to be taken home.  And that’s exactly why Moose and his owners made their way to the shelter.

“Well we’re always looking for a playmate for out little man Moose here.  He’s a big part of our family and we love him dearly and he’s bored,” says Louis Daniello, of Rome.

And the family knew it was the perfect day to search for Moose’s companion.

“This popped up on Facebook actually and we decided to take a look.  We’re going to take a look at this beautiful little dog right here named Phoebe.”

So when Moose finally meets Phoebe–it goes over pretty well.  And Moose’s owners–they even like her too.  So much so their decision was made.

“I’m thinking with a little love she’ll be a wonderful pet and a wonderful playmate for moose. “

The shelter stayed open until 7 p.m. with extended hours to accommodate as many adoptions as possible.
