UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — The Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc. will host its 15th Annual Latino American Festival on Sunday, August 29 at Hanna Park, Utica, NY. The event will go from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The Latino American Festival is a great opportunity for the Latino community to celebrate their Hispanic Heritage, and to foster the cultural exchange between the different ethnicities in the Mohawk Valley. The Festival will feature delicious food from several Latino cultures, musical performances, a DJ, dancing, a domino tournament, children activities and fun for all ages. We will have musical performances by several local Latino artists, such as Alexander ‘El Chamaquito,’ Ashlee Zayas Colon and her father, Edgar Zayas Colon, as well as DJ Richy. It will be a day full of great energy and fun times.
All proceeds are used to support several MVLA programs that assist the community and vulnerable Latin/Hispanic families and individuals in the area.
Last year, we were unable to hold our Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are still following CDC recommendations. We encourage people who are unvaccinated to wear masks for this outdoor event.
We are also welcoming vendors to offer their services at our Latino American Festival. Hundreds come to our annual event, so if you wish to become a vendor, please download a Vendor Agreement Form and send it back to our office via email or postal service mail directly to our address. Forms can be found on our website at https://www.mvlautica.org/mvla-latino-festival.html. The deadline to send vendor forms is Friday, August 27.
MVLA is also looking for volunteers to help make this event possible. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone seeking volunteer hours or who simply want to help out at the event. Volunteer times will be in increments of two hours and anyone 14 years of age or older is welcome to join.
