Utica Mayoral Candidate, Joe Marino, held a press conference to talk about his plan if elected to stop what he is calling yo-yo budgets.
Yo-yo budgets refer to the change in the tax levy from one year to the next, and how election years play a large role in the reduction of taxes.
Marino wants to make the switch to a multi-year budget plan, where consistency will play a larger role in yearly taxes. Marino said if our local government is planning ahead, residents will be able to plan ahead too.
Marino says these multi-year budgets will be retained through yearly reviews and adjustments.
