More than $50 million in fraudulent unemployment insurance payments has been recovered and returned back to New York State’s Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that New York leads the nation in total recovery dollars.
He said New York is the first state to use the Treasury Offset Program (TOP) to cover fraudulently collected benefits.
TOP is a state and federal partnership where tax refunds are intercepted to cover delinquent benefits.
If you would like to report fraudulent unemployment insurance claims, you are asked to call the Department of Labor.
