Michael Kelly Named Grand Marshall of Holiday Parade


It’s a very special dayfor a young man named Michael Kelly. Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri announced today that he will be the GrandMarshall for Utica’s Fourth of July Celebration.

Michael is 18 years oldand is battling Cystic Fibrosis.  He hasa bucket list of over 200 things he wants to do and after today, he can crossoff two of them; meeting Mayor Palmieri and being in a parade.

“I thought it was pretty cool, Inever did anything like this before and I never like being the center of attentionso, it’s different,” said Michael.

“When we heard about Michael, andhis story and one of his wishes was to be in a parade and to meet our mayor ofthe city of Utica, why not?” said Trina Gigliotti the Special EventsCoordinator for the city of Utica. “You have to push to go forward to make thishappen for him.”

Utica’s Fourth of July parade and festivitieswill kick off at 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Armory Drive and CulverAvenue.  Be sure to look out for Michaelleading the way.
