SYRACUSE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The United States Department of Justice announced on Tuesday, March 21 that a Maryland woman has been sentenced for federal charges of distribution of child pornography.

30-year-old Shelby Ortiz of Maryland pled guilty to the charges in October 2022, and will now serve 15 years in prison, as well as 20 years of supervised release.

Ortiz admitted to performing an inappropriate act on a seven-month-old child, as well as recording the act. On the same day, she also admitted to distributing the video to a person in Florida, whom she was having a relationship with.

Ortiz will also be required to register as a sex offender upon her release from prison.
