UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — The Levitt AMP Utica Music Series is back this summer, with a diverse line-up centered around this year’s theme, “New York State Originals.” People from all over the state will be performing at Kopernik Park in downtown Utica
“From upstate, literally Oneida New York, Utica New York, then we got the Bronx, Brooklyn. Rochester, Amsterdam down in the city, all of those guys are coming to perform and doing original music as well,” – Gabriella Marchesani, Talent Booker with Levitt AMP Utica Music Series
Concerts will be every Monday night from July 5 to August 30 with a final concert on September 3 to kick off labor day weekend. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., you can enjoy these “New York State Originals” who span a variety of genres, from jazz, pop, soul, country, and many more.
“We have a Native American artist from Oneida so you don’t really see much of that so we’re like we need to get her on stage get people to experience the beautiful culture too,” Marchesani explained. “And then we got Fritz’s Polka band and polka music and then we got jazz a young she’s not even 21 years old yet and she’s a jazz artist how often do people listen to jazz.”
The public is invited to bring their own blankets and chairs to enjoy the concert and to ensure everyone’s safety, there will be socially distanced rectangular pods spray painted into the grass that will hold up to 6 people. For those who aren’t yet comfortable with large crowds, they will also be offering a live stream of the shows.
“If you’re comfortable come out and enjoy it,” Marchesani said. “If you’re not comfortable we’ll be streaming it live too so that way you don’t have to worry about it, there’s no pressure if you’re not comfortable coming out in public yet, it’s okay.”
