After months of being closed to the public, Sangertown Mall will be reopening this Friday.
Pyramid Management Group CEO Stephen Congel has confirmed that its malls will reopen across New York this week. That includes not only Sangertown Mall but also Destiny USA in Syracuse and Crossgates Mall near Albany.
“The Governor’s announcement was great news for Pyramid’s tenants, their employees, our own employees, and all of the people living in the communities where our properties are located,” Congel said in a recent press release. “With proper precautions in place and health and safety a top priority, we look forward to restoring our centers to their dominant positions as the economic drivers of their respective regions.”
The news comes after Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that malls can open under phase 4 of reopening in the state under certain guidelines. Those guidelines include having an air filtration system with a MERV, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, of at least 11. The MERV rating measures the strength of an air filter and ranges in ratings from one to 20.
The malls must also have measures in place for improved ventilation, which include checking air filters more frequently and increasing outdoor air flow.
