UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Utica Police arrested a man after he led officers on a brief foot chase on Friday, March 17.

At approximately 10:40 pm on Friday, March 17, officers were conducting proactive enforcement after incidents of shots fired around the area. During their patrol, they made a traffic stop on the 1400 block of Whitesboro Street in Utica. When officers began to speak with the driver and their occupant, they noticed the butt end of a handgun beneath the seat. When officers recovered the handgun, it was found to be loaded.

Officers removed the female operator and her male passenger, 23-year-old Toddreek Weathers of Yorkville. When Weathers exited the vehicle, he ran away, but was found not far from the incident.

Both Weathers and the driver were transported to the Utica Police Department.

Weathers was charged with second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, both felonies, and Resisting Arrest and Obstruction of Governmental Administration, both misdemeanors. The driver was issued multiple traffic citations.
