News

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — This afternoon Oneida County confirmed they’ve received more than 5,300 additional COVID-19 vaccines.

“We will be administering and distributing the newly secured doses which are a mixer of Pfizer and Moderna and a initial supply, a small supply of Johnson and Johnson.” – Anthony Picente, Oneida County Executive

The majority will be Pfizer and only a couple hundred are by Johnson and Johnson. They’re also opening 3 new pods. One at St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Utica, another at turning stone’s event center and the JC Penny’s in the Sangertown mall.

“The bigger pods that we are incorporating over the next few days are in different locations to expand our reach nd to expand the capacity of the number of doses we give out.” – Anthony Picente, Oneida County Executive

All of these new doses will be for the first round of vaccines. The county is prioritizing those 65 years and older and people with comorbidities. Today the county reported 28 new positives and no new COVID related deaths. Picente says there’s been a decline in cases over the past couple of weeks but we’re still not out of the woods.

“The end of this is on the horizon but the more we wear out masks, stay distant and taking every precaution, the quicker we will get to that finish line.” – Anthony Picente, Oneida County Executive
