Night work begins on Route 8 Bridge over Routes 5/12 on October 18th

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office in coordination with City of Utica has issued the following traveler advisory for motorists in the Town of New Hartford and the City of Utica, Oneida County:

On Monday, October 18, through Thursday, October 21, 2021motorist onRoutes 8 and 840 from Genesee Street to Commercial Drive will encounter rolling traffic stoppages between 10 PM – 6 AM, with 2 or 3 stoppages per nightly due to the removal of old and installation of new overhead sign structures.

Variable message signs (V.M.S.) will be in operation notifying local motorists of the rolling traffic stoppages.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
