UTICA, NY – Generally quiet weather is expected Friday, although it will be quite breezy at times. There will be a few lake effect rain and higher elevations wet snow showers, especially North on Friday. More sunshine will blend with some clouds if you live south of the NYS Thruway.

Another cold front will approach late Friday, which will shift our wind direction to the northwest over the weekend. As this front drops south, it will shove lake effect rain and wet snow showers to the South Friday night into Saturday morning. Northwesterly winds will bring in chillier air over the weekend. After a few rain or snow showers with quite a few clouds through the 1st half of Saturday, expect more afternoon sunshine developing with ample sunshine by Sunday. It will remain chilly all weekend. Temperatures will be near 40-ish, with overnight lows in the 20s.

Much of next week will be uneventful, as sprawling high pressure resides over the region. Expect highs in the 40s on Monday and Tuesday. A weak cold front will slip through Monday night and Tuesday with a few rain or snow showers of little consequence, but other than that it will remain rain and snow free. As high pressure shifts East, temperatures climb into the 50s on Wednesday and perhaps near 60 on Thursday!
