SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – On December 7th, the United States Department of Justice Northern District of New York announced that a Utica man has pled guilty to conspiring to possess & distribute narcotics and money laundering.

On Wednesday, 46-year-old Ivan Jose Rodriguez of Utica admitted that from May 2020 through October 2021, he and co-conspirators acquired more than three kilograms of fentanyl, which he intended to redistribute in the Utica area. Additionally, he admitted to using an unidentified secondary party or “straw purchaser” to acquire numerous vehicles, including a 2021 BMW M4, using cash earned from the drug conspiracy.      

Ivan Jose Rodriguez is scheduled for sentencing on April 6th, 2023 before United States District Judge David N. Hurd and faces 10 years to life in federal prison, a fine of up to $10 million, and 5 years to life of supervision if he is released.
