NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man faces grand larceny charges after a foot pursuit by New Hartford Police on Middle Settlement Road.

Officers were called to the Lowe’s on Middle Settlement Road on the afternoon of Friday, October 20. According to employees, they suspected that 18-year-old Angeloh Delrio of Utica allegedly stole approximately $1,200 of merchandise from their store. When loss prevention officers attempted to stop Delrio, he fled on foot.

Officers then located Delrio near the American Legion near the store, at which point he began running from police. According to officers, Delrio then attempted to hide behind businesses in the area of Clinton Street and Commercial Drive. After a few minutes of searching, police were able to apprehend Delrio on Ellinwood Drive after the suspect changed his clothing.

Further investigation by officers were also able to identify Delrio as an alleged suspect in an additional larceny reported to police from the Best Buy at Consumer Square on Commercial Drive. The investigation into the Best Buy larceny remains ongoing.

Delrio was charged with fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a Class E felony. He was released on an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
