UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Utica Police Department has reported that a man allegedly burglarized two local restaurants in the City of Utica before being arrested.

Around 5:15am on December 15th, UPD received information that a burglary was taking place at the Pho Me Kong restaurant on John Street. When units arrived at the scene, they found the doors locked, but one of the side windows had been broken. The only way for them to get inside was for an officer to climb through and to open the doors from within.

Once inside, a search was then conducted, during which 21-year-old Dayquan Linen of Utica was found hiding in a locked bathroom. Eventually, officers were able to convince Linen to come out and he was then taken into custody without incident.

After further investigation by the UPD’s Burglary Unit, it was learned that Linen had allegedly also burglarized the Lotus Garden restaurant just prior to entering the Pho Me Kong.

Dayquan Linen has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree
  • Possession of Burglary Tools
