UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Utica Police Department reports that a woman has been charged with Criminal Weapon Possession after a traffic stop in Utica on October 11th.

Around 7:50 pm on Tuesday, a patrol officer pulled over a vehicle in the Mohawk Street Plaza. As he approached the 26-year-old driver, Jasmine Cepeda, he noticed that she was behaving anxiously and was frequently looking at a bag she was wearing around her chest. When he visually examined the bag, he allegedly saw the outline of a handgun.  

Loaded 9mm ‘ghost gun’

The officer then asked Cepeda to exit her vehicle for further investigation, during which he allegedly learned that a loaded 9mm ghost gun was contained within the bag in her possession. She was then detained, and the weapon was seized.  

Jasmine Cepeda has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C Felony)
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony)
  • NYSV&TL Violations
