MARSHALL, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Marshall man faces rape charges after Oneida County Sheriffs arrested him following a two-month investigation.
According to Oneida County Child Advocacy Center Director Derrick O’Meara, the investigation began on Thursday, August 31. On that day, the Child Advocacy Center was notified that the 22-year-old suspect had unwanted sexual contact with an underage female.
Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred when in 2019, when the suspect was 17. The suspect had allegedly subjected the 15-year-old female to sexual contact, and did not stop when the victim told him to stop.
The suspect surrendered himself on Wednesday, October 25 to Oneida County Sheriffs, and he was subsequently charged with third-degree Rape, a Class E felony.
The suspect was arraigned in Oneida County CAP Court and released on his own recognizance. Services have also been offered to the victim by the Child Advocacy Center and an order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.
