ONEIDA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Oneida City Police Department reports that a man from Lee Center has been arrested after allegedly being found with a firearm and over 66 grams of meth during a traffic stop in Oneida on December 7th.

Around 8:42 on Wednesday, officers pulled over a vehicle on North Main Street for a traffic violation. While speaking with the 23-year-old driver, Joshua Gillett of Lee Center, officers allegedly saw a firearm and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Gillett was then removed for further questioning and a search. In his possession, officers allegedly found 73 bags of fentanyl and a small quantity of methamphetamine. Additionally, in his vehicle, a firearm, more than 66 grams of methamphetamine, an undisclosed amount of US currency, a taser, drug packaging materials, a digital scale, and other paraphernalia were allegedly found.

Joshua Gillett, age 23 has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Class A-II Felony)
  • 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree3rd (Class B Felony)
  • Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd (Misdemeanor)
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd (Misdemeanor)
  • 4 Vehicle & Traffic violations

Joshua Gillett has been transported to the Madison County Jail and is currently awaiting his arraignment. Eyewitness News will update you with any new information as it is released.
