HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a man was arrested on multiple felonies charges for allegedly defrauding the Herkimer County welfare system.

According to the police, 52-year-old Timothy Ziegler of Ilion allegedly received more than $4,500 in fraudulent benefits for more than a year-and-a-half.

He has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree (Class E Felony)

Ziegler was processed and arraigned at the Little Falls City Court and is currently at the Herkimer County Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear in front of the court again in the future.
