UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Utica Police Department is reporting that four adults and one juvenal have been arrested for criminal weapons charges resulting from a traffic stop over the weekend.
Around 11:00pm on Saturday December 4th, members of the UPD’s Crime Prevention Unit and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, pulled over a vehicle in Utica near the intersection of Gold Street and Steuben Street. Inside the vehicle was the following: 21-year-old Keenan Thompson, 21-year-old Lillian Stockon, 19-year-old Shwe Moe, 19-year-old Sam Beaumont age 19, and an underage male who will remain unidentified. All of which are from the City of Utica.
While interviewing these individuals, the officers were “led to believe” that a handgun was located somewhere in the car. Upon further investigation, a loaded 9mm handgun was found inside a backseat storage compartment.
After the weapon was found, all the individuals mentioned above were arrested, brought to the Utica Police Department, and charged with the following:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm
Additionally, some of the parties were charged with various New York State Violations & Traffic Law violations.
