Local School District Reacts To Proposed 2% Tax Cap


The 2% property tax cap was introduced in 2011, and will expire next year. Herkimer Central School District Superintendent Rob Miller says the cap could put tremendous financial pressure on schools and local governments by not meeting the adequate aid needed. Miller says the conversation needs to go beyond the property tax cap, asking how schools should continue to be funded so that local tax payers aren’t taking on a majority of the responsibility.
