Local Business Preps to Reopen After Nearly a Year Being Closed

(WUTR-TV) — Small business owner Andrea Duvall has been looking forward to the day she could finally reopen her billiards hall.

“It’ll be almost exactly a year. I closed March 16th of 2020.” – Andrea Duvall, Owner, Utica Billiards

Under the state’s new guidelines, billiards halls can reopen at 50% until 11 p.m. each night. Patrons must wear masks, social distance and stay within their party. Owners must disinfect any rented or shared equipment.

“I put in the highest merv rated furnace filters. There’s sanitizing solutions around the room. I switched to some lower touch food items. Just everything I could do on my end, I’ve tried to do.” – Andrea Duvall, Owner, Utica Billiards

We asked how she was able to keep her business afloat after being closed for so long?

“I just sort of cut back whatever you can cut back and you know turned the thermostats down a little bit since we’re not in here and kept to a stricter budget. And you know thank goodness here i am.” – Andrea Duvall, Owner, Utica Billiards

Andrea says 2020 was a minor setback but she’s hopeful this year will be different.

“It’s been strange. We spent our 2nd year anniversary being closed so hopefully we can do something big for the 3rd anniversary which will be this May.” – Andrea Duvall, Owner, Utica Billiards

Utica Billiards will reopen on the 9th, Tuesdays through Sundays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
