Woman airlifted to SUNY Update Medical after car accident in stable condition

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a woman sustained serious injuries the morning of Friday October 8th and had to be airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Around 7:30am on Friday morning, 50-year-old Elssy Vintimilla of Utica was traveling South on Route 26 ramp when she started to cross into the Eastbound lane of Route 365. At the same time, 33-year-old Andrew Gardner of Oneida was traveling East in his pick-up truck when he struck Vintimilla’s vehicle.

The full extent of Vintimilla’s injuries have not been released at this time, but she is currently in stable condition.

Gardener did not sustain any injuries during the accident. 

No tickets have been issued, but the investigation is still on-going. All affected roadways have been re-opened to regular traffic.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by members of the City of Rome Fire Department, New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), AmCare ambulance and Mercy Flight.
