SYRACUSE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Vernon man was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on child pornography charges on Wednesday, October 11.
40-year-old Chad Srogi of Vernon pled guilty to the charges in a previous trial. In his guilty plea, Srogi admited that he distributed and transported child pornography on several social media platforms in 2018. In October 2019, Srogi also admitted to possessing more than a hundred pornographic images of children.
Srogi also admitted in his guilty plea that he had been previously convicted in the state of Florida in 2007 on charges of Promoting the Sexual Performance of a Child and Possession Material Depicting the Sexual Performance of a Child.
In addition to the 25-year prison sentence, United States District Judge Glen Suddaby imposed a 25-year term of supervised release to begin after Srogi finishes his term of imprisonment. Srogi will also be required to register as a sex offender and was ordered to pay $9,000 in restitution to the victims of his offenses.
The case was investigated by the New York State Police’s Troop D Bureau of Investigation and the Computer Crimes Unit, as well as the United States Homeland Security Investigations unit.
