UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Police arrested a Utica man on Monday, May 15 in connection with a shots-fired investigation.

Officers were called to Sim Place at approximately 10:10 pm on Monday regarding the investigation. When officers arrived, they say they found an unoccupied gray pickup in front of the residence with the doors open. As they began their search, two males exited the residence and began to speak with officers.

As they continued their search, police say they found four spent .40 caliber shell casings in the backyard. A search warrant was executed for the home, where officers say they found a loaded .40 caliber rifle, as well as an unloaded .45 caliber handgun.

Those weapons were seized and one of the males – 38-year-old Kevin Gottlieb of Utica — was subsequently arrested.

Gottlieb is being charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, two counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and one count of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, all felonies.

The second male was not charged in the incident. The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.
