UPDATE (May 22, 2023) — The Department of Transportation has postponed the work to Tuesday, May 30 to ensure that the village’s Memorial Day parade can go on without any issues.

NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The New York State Department of Transportation issued a travel advisory on Monday, May 22 for the village of New Hartford.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 23, water main work will begin in the village. The DOT will begin this work near the intersection of Golf Avenue and Genesee Street in the village. The work will continue east toward the intersection of Paris Road over the next month.

Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures along Genesee Street as work is being completed. Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are advised that the work zone will move westward and change weekly as work is completed.

Motorists are also reminded to drive responsibly in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Two or more speeding violations in a work zone may result in the suspension of the offender’s driver’s license.
