WASHINGTON MILLS, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The New York State Department of Transportation announced on Thursday, May 25 that they are planning ramp closures at the exits for the towns of Washington Mills, Chadwicks, and Sauquoit beginning on Saturday, June 3.
According to the DOT, the ramps will be closed to facilitate paving work.
Beginning on Saturday, June 3, ramps on and off State Route 8 Southbound will be closed intermittently, starting at the exits for Washington Mills, then moving south to Chadwicks and Sauquoit. The ramps are expected to be closed for approximately four hours at each exit and will be reopened prior to work on the next ramp.
On Saturday, June 10, the ramps will be closed in the reverse order, starting in Sauquoit, then moving north to Chadwicks and Washington Mills. The ramps are expected to be closed for the same amount of time and will be reopened prior to work on the next ramp.
Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes while the work is going on. The work is weather dependent and may be postponed due to rain. For up-to-date information, motorists are instructed to call 511, visit 511NY.org or download the free 511NY mobile app.
Motorists are also urged to slow down in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone may result in the suspension of the offender’s license.
