U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer stood with veteran’s in Utica to fight for their healthcare and benefits.
He called on Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to add new conditions to the Agent Orange Presumptive Conditions List.
Agent Orange was a herbicide mixture used in the military during the Vietnam War. It has been scientifically proven that diseases like Parkinson’s, Bladder Cancer and Hypertension are linked to Agent Orange. However, they are not listed on the Veterans Affairs List of conditions.
“I am here to demand that the OMB approve these illnesses as service related, connected to Agent Orange. And give our veterans who are suffering from these diseases, even though they risk their lives for us in the awful conditions in Vietnam, give them the benefits that they need, deserve and have earned, plain and simple.” —Schumer
