UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — With the winter months fast approaching, the Rescue Mission of Utica is looking to help those without winter clothes.

The Rescue Mission will be hosting a Men’s and Boys’ Coat Giveaway at their Community Services Center on West Street in Utica on Wednesday, November 15, from 9 am to 1 pm. People attending the giveaway are asked to use the parking lot and entrance on Miller Street.

The Mission will be giving one coat, hat, hooded sweatshirt and pair of gloves per person. Parents who are picking up for their children will need their child’s benefit ID card.

For more information on the coat giveaway, you are asked to call the Rescue Mission of Utica at 315-735-1645 at extension number 2108.

If you are in a position to give warm clothing to a person in need this year, the Neighborhood Center in Utica — in conjunction with Accelerate Sports in Whitesboro — will be hosting a coat drive. They will be collecting gently used coats between Tuesday, November 7 and Friday, December 8.

The coats will then be handed out by the Neighborhood Center to people in their Home Assistance Program. You may drop off those coats at Accelerate Sports, located on Judd Road in Whitesboro.

There is also an Amazon wishlist set up for this drive with for online collections as well.
