UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The high school football game between Proctor and Whitesboro, scheduled for Friday night at Whitesboro has been moved to Saturday morning at Whitesboro. Kick off Saturday morning is scheduled for 9:30AM.
The schedule change, agreed upon by both schools, takes place in the aftermath of last Saturday’s incident following a game at Proctor in which a school security officer was shot in the back of the head. The official walked out of St. Elizabeth Hospital Monday. The suspect in the shooting surrendered Sunday morning to Utica police.
The rescheduled game Saturday morning will take place at Chiz Frye Field in Whitesboro. Through a cooperative agreement between the two schools and local law enforcement agencies, including the Oneida County Sheriff Office, the game will be played with safety features included.
There will be a single point of entry into the game. Purses and packages will be searched. No backpacks will be allowed. Parents and students will be allowed in attendance.
