TOWN OF LEE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Oneida County Sheriffs announced on Wednesday, May 17, that they have made an arrest in connection with an investigation into a sexual abuse case in the town of Lee.
In March of 2022, the Child Advocacy Center led a sexual abuse investigation that led to the arrest of 35-year-old Michael Provost of the Town of Lee. Provost was eventually charged and convicted of seven counts of Predatory Sexual Assault against a Child, seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Further investigation found that Provost’s fiancé – 31-year-old Amanda Lewis of the Town of Lee – was allegedly made aware of the abuse by the victims. However, according to sheriffs, Lewis failed to intervene, resulting in the continued abuse of the victims.
Lewis was located and arrested by Oneida County Sheriffs on Wednesday, May 17. She was processed and arraigned in Oneida County CAP Court and released on her own recognizance.
Lewis is currently being charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Services are being provided to the victims by the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, and an order of protection has been issued.
