UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Oneida County History Center has announced they will hold an author talk and book signing with an author from Westmoreland.

Peter Pagliaro, a Utica native now residing in Westmoreland, has written the book, “The 1947 Utica Blue Sox: A Baseball Season To Remember,” about the Blue Sox of the Eastern League. Led by Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn, the Blue Sox went 90-48 and beat the Wilkes-Barre Barons and the Albany Senators en route to the 1947 Eastern League title. Most of those players, including utility infielder Granny Hamner and Ashburn, would go on to Major League Baseball, playing for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pagliaro also co-hosts a weekly sports talk radio show at a radio station in Rome as well as a baseball podcast.

The author talk is scheduled for Saturday, March 25 at 2 pm at the Oneida County History Center at 1608 Genesee Street in Utica.
