TRENTON, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — New York State Police and Oneida County Sheriffs were called to a motor vehicle accident that left one person dead in the Town of Trenton.
State Police in Remsen were called to the intersection of State Route 12 and Hinman Road in the Town of Trenton at approximately 5:17 pm to respond to a three-vehicle crash.
According to police, a car — driven by 61-year-old Roberta Shields of Remsen — was turning left onto Hinman Road from State Route 12. She then failed to observe a motorcycle — driven by 21-year-old Jaylen Charron of Herkimer — traveling southbound on State Route 12.
Charron’s motorcycle then struck Shields’ car, which caused the car to spin and strike a pickup truck stopped at the intersection. Charron was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the truck — 35-year-old Joshua Buck of Remsen — and his passenger were not injured in the crash. Shields and two passengers were transported to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center for minor injuries.
State Police were also assisted at the scene by the Barneveld Fire Department.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
