UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) has announced it has updated its Maternity Child Services starting on May 8th to allow visitation for Mother’s Day between grandparents, new mothers, and their newborns.

The total number of visitors allowed per room will be 4 at any given time (two designated support people and two grandparents). Grandparent visitors can wait in the Maternity Lobby.

Labor and Delivery:

  • Visitation of two grandparents in the immediate two hours following delivery. This is prior to the transfer to the mother-Baby Unit.

Mother-Baby Baby Unit (MBU):

  • MBU visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Two grandparents will be allowed in at a time and they can change out with other grandparents throughout the time block.
