Local News

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY)– A “Mother’s Day” COVID vaccine clinic is being held by the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), the Oneida County Health Department and the NYS Health Department, in conjunction with local community partners, to encourage people to be vaccinated.  The POD will be distributing Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) single-dose vaccines to anyone over 18-years old, free of charge, at Bargain Grocer, 1110 Lincoln Ave, Utica Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In honor of Mother’s Day, anyone who gets vaccinated at the POD will receive a card, a photo and a plant or flower – and you can bring them home to mom or moms can treat themselves!  Being vaccinated is one more step toward being with our family and friends keeping each other safe and protected.

Anyone who is eligible for the vaccine can:

  1. Schedule an appointment at mvhealthsystem.org/vaccine-network.
  2. Simply walk in while the clinic is open.

The event is sponsored by MVHS, Oneida County Health Department, the NYS Department of Health, NAACP/Rome, NAACP/Utica, Mohawk Valley Latino Association, The Center, and Mohawk Valley New Frontiers, as well as a generous donation from the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida counties.
