ILION, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – On Monday, May 23rd, amid comments circulating on social media Mayor of Ilion Brian Lamica released a statement about the state of two ongoing projects in the village.

The stair project is underway and expected to be completed by early summer, after being put on hold for the past two years. The village received a $100,000 SAM Grant from Senator James Seward’s office three years ago.

“A thing called COVID came about and delayed the project out by almost two years which also delayed the funding as far as us being able to utilize it and the state made sure that the funding was available to us when we were ready to start the project,” said Mayor Lamica.

The mayor explains that comments are also circulating about flood mitigation along Columbia Parkway.

“It took as a while to even be able to research the project because of the fact it was something paid for directly from the state to the engineering firm,” said Lamica.

If you have concerns about the flood mitigation along Columbia Parkway, this will be discussed at the village board meeting on May 24th at 6:30 pm.
