UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Marcy Elementary School is being recognized for being one of the few schools to help the Herkimer Elks Lodge and Hunger Coalition 1439 to raise money for Ukraine.
“Which put us over the $21,000 mark,” said Ray Lenarcic. “So thank you very much – we are also donating to the faculty four books including the best seller called ‘Born On The Water.’”
As we’ve previously reported, the money raised will be going to the World Central Kitchen (WCK) which provides humanitarian aid in times of need.
“We’re hoping that our donations, that will be eventually sent to the World Central Kitchen, will help provide food for those Ukrainians who do not have access to food and water,” said Kim Newton, Principal at Marcy Elementary School.
The war in Ukraine is still in full swing, and their people need our help. Ray Lenarcic is here to remind us that it’s not too late to start fundraising.
The other schools you still have the opportunity,” said Lenarcic. “Do something.”
