ALBANY, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – An Ilion man has been sentenced to prison time and post-release supervision on Tuesday, May 23 after federal charges of possessing and intending to distribute drugs.
According to United States Attorney Carla Freedman, 32-year-old Jordan Burks — also known as Justin Burts – of Ilion was sentenced to 36 months in prison on federal drug charges. According to Freedman, Burks was in possession of stimulants known as bath salts.
According to police, federal agents executed a warrant on Burks’ home in January of 2022. In the execution of the warrant, they allegedly seized approximately 450 grams of bath salts. Agents also recovered several digital scales, as well as almost $20,000 in cash.
According to the agents, they also seized five packages of the same drug, one of which contained more than a quarter of a kilogram — just over half a pound – that was bound for Burks’ home. When interviewed, Burks admitted that he intended to distribute the bath salts.
Along with his prison sentence, Burks will also be under post-release supervision for the next three years.
