HERKIMER, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Herkimer man faces sexual abuse charges after being arrested by Herkimer Police on Tuesday, October 31.
On Monday, October 30, Herkimer Police received a report from Herkimer Middle School staff that a juvenile female had reported being sexually abused that morning. Further investigation found that the female also reported that it had allegedly happened that morning while being transported to school by the suspect — 31-year-old Christopher Murray of Herkimer, a friend of the family.
An investigation was started that day and investigators with the Herkimer Police Department were assisted by the Herkimer County Child Advocacy Center and the Herkimer County Sheriffs.
Murray was arrested on Tuesday, October 31 and charged with two counts of first-degree Sexual Abuse — a Class D Violent Felony — and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Murray was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail and $40,000 bond.
According to Herkimer Police, the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be pending for Murray.
