Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, a conservative Republican stalwart in the House, has been voted out of her position as the GOP’s Chair of the House Republican Conference. In that capacity, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney was the third highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives.

The removal of Cheney sets the stage for a vote later this week in which New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-21) could be elected to replace Cheney. Stefanik represents the northern section of Herkimer County, including the Dolgeville area and parts of the Kuyahoora Valley.
