BINGHAMTON, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a Flood Advisory on September, 5th at 9:04PM EDT until September, 5th at 11:15PM EDT.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected in a portion of central New York, including the following counties, Chenango, Madison and Otsego.

Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. At 9:04 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include: Hamilton, Cooperstown, Brookfield, Middlefield, Hartwick, Edmeston, North Norwich, Sherburne, Pittsfield, Springfield, Richfield Springs, New Berlin, Columbus, Earlville, Morris, Cherry Valley, Bridgewater, Milford, Gilbertsville and Laurens.
