BINGHAMTON, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Otsego County and Northeastern Delaware County until 1:15PM Tuesday.

At 11:47 AM, Tuesday, moderate to heavy rainfall had occurred with rain gauge reports indicating between 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain so far. Moderate to heavy rainfall will continue into early Tuesday afternoon. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.


the flash flooding is being caused by thunderstorms. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas can be expected.


Some locations that will experience flash flooding include:
Oneonta, Walton, Delhi, Cooperstown, Davenport, Roxbury, Worcester, Middlefield, Hartwick, Colchester, Maryland, Edmeston, Meredith, Pittsfield, Springfield, Andes, Richfield Springs, Stamford, Otego and Margaretville.

Flooding of low lying areas and steams overflowing are being reported along I-88 in Delaware County.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
