CENTRAL NEW YORK, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – On Thursday December 30th, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that New York State has awarded Central New York and the Mohawk Valley $35,565,000 in grants from the ‘Child Care Stabilization Initiative’.
“Childcare is the backbone of our economy, and this transformative investment is critical to building our economic recovery. This funding is a lifeline to providers and helps ensure New Yorkers have access to quality childcare across the state.” – Governor Kathy Hochul
This “first-of-its-kind” package is part a $900 million investment given to NYS as part of the $2.3 billion federal ‘American Rescue Plan Act and Coronavirus and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act’. Almost 15,000 childcare providers were given funds for personnel, rent or mortgage, utilities, facility maintenance & improvements, COVID-19 PPE & supplies, childcare services, child & employee mental health support, and health & safety training.
