Brindisi not running again in NY-22 Congressional Race

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — Today, former congressman Anthony Brindisi announced that he will not be running again for congress in 2022.

“For me it was totally a personal decision. My kids are at a very crucial age right now. My son is entering high school in the fall. My daughter is entering her sixth grade in the fall so being close to family is ultimately what drove my decision.” – Anthony Brindisi, Former NY-22 Congressional District Representative

Brindisi has been in public service for the last decade, “I started off on the local school board here in the city of Utica. I spent seven years in the state assembly in Albany and then two years down in congress down in Washington.” – Anthony Brindisi, Former NY-22 Congressional District Representative

Brindisi says he has enjoyed his time and very proud of his accomplishments, especially getting 12 bills signed into law that he authored, “On issues that are very important to veterans, on healthcare issues, on manufacturing issues and bringing jobs back home from over seas. Hopefully those bills will help people across the country and hat’s what I’m most proud of, getting that done over a period of divided government.” – Anthony Brindisi, Former NY-22 Congressional District Representative

So what is next for the former congressman?

“I’m not out of public service for good. I still want to be able to give back to the community but do so at more of a local level. I’ve returned back full time to the law practice. I’m getting to spend a lot more time with my family. I’ll be attending my daughter’s softball game tonight. her team’s in the championship. So I’ll be there to root her and her teammates on and really just being able to take some time to reflect and spend time with the family.” – Anthony Brindisi, Former NY-22 Congressional District Representative
