BRIDGEWATER, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a Bridgewater man has been arrested for inappropriate contact with a child.

On October 27th, the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) received information that an underage girl was allegedly being subjected to inappropriate sexual contact by an adult man. The case was assigned to Oneida County Sheriff Investigator Mark R. Chrysler for further investigation.

During the investigation, Chrysler learned that 37-year-old Jon VanNort from of Bridgewater had allegedly performed several lewd and inappropriate sexual acts with the underage girl throughout the month of July of 2021. With enough evidence for to make an arrest, on November 8, VanNort was taken into custody at his residence without indecent.

Jon VanNort was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

  • One count of Forcible Touching (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • One count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)

After being processed, he was then taken to the Sheriff’s Correctional Facility and arraigned at CAP Court. He is currently being held on $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond. Services have been offered to the victim and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the child
