DEERFIELD, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) –  What started as a celebration in honor of the annual motorcycle ride for the pediatric brain tumor foundation back in July is now a benefit for a member of the local community.

This Sunday, September 18th from 11 AM – 5 PM, at the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department, a benefit will be held for Brooks, a local child who is currently battling a brain tumor.

Brooks is just three years old and is a local boy from the Oneida area, and when Kristie Russitano heard about his recent diagnosis via Facebook, she felt like she needed to do something to help Brooks and his family.

“We have a great band coming out from 2 to 4, we have a baked goods auction,” said Russitano, Coordinator of Benefit for Brooks.

“We have 100 raffle items, we have an awesome Yeti cooler that’s going to be a door prize, we have a bounce house, we have cornhole going on.”

She continued, “And if you want to bring a motorcycle, we have two loop rides planned as well, if you want to take a fun ride, and then come back and see us for some food, but please come out and support this family – they need your love, they need your support.”

Kristie especially wanted to do something, knowing firsthand how hard it is to have a child battling cancer.

“For me and my personal experience, it was amazing seeing the outpouring of love that we received from our community, it was like, I think I can get through this, you know, I think I can get through this with everybody backing me and supporting me,” she said.

So, be sure to stop by the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department this Sunday to support a great cause.
