POWNAL, VT (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – A three day search for evidence in the 30 year old murder of Sara Anne Wood was conducted last week. The search began November 11th in the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont. New York State Police investigators, using a K9 unit, were part of a group of 80 officers from the NY State Police, NYS Forest Rangers and Vermont State Police participated in the search.
No evidence or remains of Sara were found.
Sara Anne Wood was a 12 year old junior high school student at Sauquoit Valley Central School. On August 18, 1993, she was abducted at knife point by Lewis Lent of North Adams, Ma. Lent admitted that he killed Sara and said that he buried her body near Inlet in Herkimer County. Her body was never found and 30 years later the New York State Police continue their search.
